This year Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is a peculiar one as prospective candidates now have the opportunity to proceed on registration for the entrance exam though those already applied have started exams already.
The exam, which started May 13, is conducted in batches for already registered candidates. The registration website which is usually put on hold after the deadline but this year it has been re-opened to allow for intereted candidate to register.
The registrar of JAMB, the organizer of the tertiary entrance exam, Prof. Ishiaq Oloyede, made the announcement in line with the mandate from the National Assembly to extend the UTME registration by one month.
Oloyede speaking during his visit to the Computer Based Test centre in Lagos on Friday, May 19, confirmed that interested candidates can still apply for UTME.
He said the month extension as mandated by the Senate would elapse on May 28 when JAMB will finally close its registration portal.
“As I speak, we have registered additional 1,100 candidates,” Oloyede said.
Oloyede noted that the candidates were also not doing bad going by the results so far released by the examination body.
